Sequel to the acclaimed Odd Thomas, we follow Odd on another supernatural adventure, this time it is the quest to save his kidnapped childhood friend.
Afflicted by brittle bone disease and held captive by a seductive voodoo devotee and her two ‘cheval’s’ in a dilapidated Indian Casino somewhere in the Mojave Desert, Danny’s only hope is Odd’s Psychic Magnetism which will lead him to the fire ravaged building by way of Pico Mundo’s storm water system.
Ghosts and a large wild cat also prowl the casino and Odd needs to use these to his advantage in order to save his friend.
Odd is a very human hero with unique talents, and massive dry wit. Although not as endearing as the first novel, Odd’s humour breaks the darkness of this tale, and carries this bizarre story through to the end.
A little disappointing but Odd is still a wonderful character to read about.
