Brother Odd ~ Dean Koontz

The third in the series (and I’m sure there will be more) of ghostly adventures with the very droll Odd Thomas.

Odd has hidden himself away in an Abbey in the High Sierra in the hope of sparing himself from the lingering dead who disturb his waking and sleeping moments. Unfortunately Brother Constantine, an apparent suicide, is throwing poltergeist fits, a mad scientist and benefactor of the Abbey is performing weird experiments in the catacombs beneath the Abbey and a Russian non-monk resident is under suspicion of poisoning the deserts in the kitchen. The combination of this and the appearance of the sinister ‘Bodach’s’ that only Odd can see make him fearful for the lives of the disabled children who are cared for at the Abbey’s hospital unit.

A light read and not as good as the original, the constant quips and droll remarks are becoming tiresome, and the many references to the first book annoying. However, with that said, I will probably read the next one.
